Darginka

We have bought an Akhal-Teke broodmare from Jennifer Bristow of RareEquine.com. Her name is Darginka and she is from Tito Pontecrvo’s breeding. Darginka is rated as an elite mare, scoring 7.5 for type and 8.0 for conformation, and is recommended for breeding by MAAK. She is 161 cm tall (16 hh).

Darginka’s sire is the famous Gigant (Gektor x Akbella), Gelishikli line, and her dam is Darpa (Pahlivan x Dojgurgush), Arab line. The combination of Arab and Gelishikli is considered the golden cross, as it has been the most successful combination of breeding and achievements in sport. Thanks to Nadja of studfarm Akhalt-Service for the breeding information. I will put more information about that in another post.

MAAK is the International Association of Akhal-Teke breeders and rates each Akhal-Teke. Darginka scored 7.5 for type and 8.0 for conformation, ranking her as an elite mare and recommended for breeding by MAAK. The scoring can be found on-line at Cascade Gold Akhal-Tekes.

I am setting up this blog to learn as much as possible about Akhal-Tekes, including information about keeping, raising, breeding and training these beautiful and rare animals. They also have an amazing history.

Darginka’s sire Gigant is also a successsful jumper and Abscent is a famous dressage horse that won medals at three consecutive Olympics.

hi my teke Louie (aka Sakchi – means Sentinel in ENglish and Sentinel is his show name) is what the teke people call a light golden bay, to the average horseman they think he is a very chromed buckskin, i think our horses are about the same color! He is out of Senetir and a TB mare.

I would of loved to get Jennifer’s colt, but right now i just cannot add another horse – in the future i do plan on owning a full bred teke!

    Love the website!

    Hi, nice site!

I wish you all the best with Darginka.

I just wanted to point out that the grey stallion in the pictire above is not Gigant but Guipur 25 with his trainer and rider, Galina Sukhovenko
