Studs

The quest is on to find a stud for Darginka. In my search I came across pictures of Gasyr Shael at the Vladimir Shamborant Studfarm (see above).

I find him just stunning and it looks like he has lots of character as well. However, the breeders don’t agree with artificial insemination so to breed to him we would have to bring Darginka to Russia. Oh well, he sure is grand! Maybe I’ll be able to get one of his foals.

Here are my favourites so far:

1. SHAYOL:
Shayol Shayol Shayol

Shayol is considered one of the most typical representatives of line Everdy Teleke in the world and I think it would be a neat cross. Plus Shayol is 166 cm (16.3 hh) tall.

    Hello,
    Draginka is beatifufl!
We bought Moira and Dolomit from Tito and I would like to see if you can check Dolomit – our stallion for Draginka breeding. Dolomit grandfather is Munir – multiple champion in the breed in Russia, Dolomit half brother is Maruk also champion of the breed. Dolomit has outstanding character and loves kids because they always come and give him grass. He is very flashy horse with very nice extended movements. He is 16+ hands. Dolomit is dark bay if you interested in darker colour, Mamuk has passed his colour to Dolomit. Best regards.

Hi Kerri, how wonderful that you joined the ranks of the Akhal-Teke owners. I hope your mare will bring you much happiness, and many beautiful foals!
In your search for the best stallion for her, I wish you good luck! However, I would like to point out that your information for both Aad and Aliger which you list here is not consistent with the actual grading results for those horses, as recorded in 2002 by Dr. Tatiana Riabova. It may be best for you to check the actual grading results before you make your decision.
    Wishing you all the best,
    Milena Stoszek

    Thanks for leaving comments!

Dasha: Dolomit looks pretty and it looks like you have a great relationship! I’ve been reading your blog!

Milena – I’ve been told you are a great one to ask for breeding advice and I’ve been planning to e-mail you! I looked up the 2002 results on the Cascade Gold site and found Aliger as 7.7 and 9.0. For Aad I found 7.6 and 8.0; Perhaps the other scores that were sent me were from an earlier grading.

What do you think of the cross between Shayol and Darginka?
