What I find interesting is that the horses, which are now being selected for speed, are not as fast as some of the historical horses. And I would love to learn more about AJAX – as he won both 6,000 and 1,800 meter distances. Was he trained differently in 2005 and 2006? What other races has he been in?

I wonder if selection of speed is so important for breeders than before. I’ve seen an article by MAAK that explains the decrease of the number of akhal teke races since 1980.
I wonder also about the reliability of the record of Opal 1:57 !
