We took Darginka to the Farpoint Farms/Hobbit Hollows Open House and Free Jumping Competition. Darginka did very well, especially since we hadn’t tried this before. She placed mid pack, in general above the Thoroughbreds but below the warmbloods. The judge liked her and remarked that she is a very careful jumper and thought that she [...]
(function($){$(document).ready(function(){$(“#px45 a”).lightBox({});});})(jQuery); Darginka did her second limited distance endurance ride at Rock Creek. The Rock Creek Roundup was a 30 mile ride and she moved out really well for 15 miles and then we pretty much walked the rest of the way except for a trot along the road at the end. Her ride time [...]
(function($){$(document).ready(function(){$(“#px44 a”).lightBox({});});})(jQuery); Akpai has been leased to Katrin who is using her for endurance this year. Akpai turned out to be such a nice riding horse that her daughter rode her in her first 30 mile ride. Akpai is now down in Idaho with Katrin and set to do her first 50 miler this weekend.
(function($){$(document).ready(function(){$(“#px43 a”).lightBox({});});})(jQuery); Davinia is now a yearling and is still all fluffy from being up at 100 Mile. I’m still not sure if she is buckskin or smokey black. Her dark brown winter hair is shedding out and underneath is black. She isn’t grey though. The last couple photos show her reunion with Darginka her [...]
(function($){$(document).ready(function(){$(“#px42 a”).lightBox({});});})(jQuery); Pagoda isn’t quite shed out yet but is healthy and happy. These photos were taken at Rock Creek on the way to meet her boyfriend in Creston, BC.
Here are Pagoda and Darginka this spring. They are finally shed out (although still a bit fuzzy in some of the photos) and the weather has been great recently. Pagoda has been great under saddle and really loves being ridden. That was their first time inside and indoor arena and going over poles. Pagoda is [...]

On the North American Stallion directory there are references posted to both the sire line and the dam’s sire line. It is only used as a classification system. It would be more relevant to actually post the dam families, however, which dams are classified as the base of the family is difficult to discover. I [...]

Akhal-Tekes seem to have the most amazing movement. Here are some YouTube videos of Akhal-Tekes doing dressage, including two historical videos, one with Absent footage, and clips of Grom and Lakmus. Please comment if you know the other horses!
I’m trying to get sport information on Akhal-Tekes who are currently being campaigned in jumping. These are the horses I could find, if you have more information on these horses or others can you please let me know!!
Here are some of my favourite horses (for different reasons) from photos I can find. I want to learn more about conformation and think about what draws me to these photos. In general what is good conformation? Which is the fastest, the best for endurance, the best jumper, the best for dressage? And also, how much are body types affected by training (type/or lack of)?
I’m going crazy not being near my horses so I have to be happy just looking at photos! Here is a collection of Akhal-Teke photography that I like from Flickr:
We were honoured to visit two amazing Akhal-Teke breeders, Milena Stoszek and Cathy Leddy, unfortunately too quickly…
