What a great ride in a beautiful site! The Bandit Springs ride is located in central Oregon in the Ochoco National Forest. They had a variety of rides, 30, 50, 80 and 100 miles with the 30 and 50 mile rides offered both days. There was even a Ride and Tie as well as 10, [...]

Here are some photos of the “half time” entertainment during the Beauty Contest. Drill Team: Roman Riding:
Here are Pagoda and Darginka this spring. They are finally shed out (although still a bit fuzzy in some of the photos) and the weather has been great recently. Pagoda has been great under saddle and really loves being ridden. That was their first time inside and indoor arena and going over poles. Pagoda is [...]
Akpai is for sale and these last couple weeks a couple people have looked at her. She has the easiest temperament of the mares for riding and is the smoothest with the nicest strides: Pagoda is the surprise for riding. I had given up on her as a sound riding horse after all her sickness [...]
Isha, a spiritual teacher and endurance rider, has fallen for Akhal-Tekes! You can read Isha’s book, Why Walk When You Can Fly, as well as watch her movie. Isha also appeared here on CBC with our own Steven & Chris and she blogs on the Huffington Post. With women like Isha and the Amazon of [...]
The Amazon of Peace has now completed another great ride. This time Laurence Bougault rode a Turkoman mare from Iran (Almila) for their 7,000 km journey from Isfahan, Iran to Paris, France (through Iran, Turkey, Greece, Italy and France). I have very crudely translated some of her blog posts, they are a definite must read. [...]
All the horses are now started under saddle. Akpay is very smooth with great gaits, Pagoda really seems to love being ridden, Darginka isn’t sure she wants to give up control yet and Davinia just loves any attention!
Helm is by Melesur out of Hanbibi, so is a half brother to Arim. Akhal Texas has sold him to a dressage rider and Helm is under advanced dressage training. He sure is a beauty to watch! We have a daughter of Helm in Canada, Mahiar, at Bold Vantage Farm! (function($){$(document).ready(function(){$(“#px26 a”).lightBox({});});})(jQuery); You can see [...]
I don’t have anything for sale until next spring, but if you are in the market for a sport horse these guys are ready to go:
Akhal-Tekes seem to have the most amazing movement. Here are some YouTube videos of Akhal-Tekes doing dressage, including two historical videos, one with Absent footage, and clips of Grom and Lakmus. Please comment if you know the other horses!
Here are some of my favourite horses (for different reasons) from photos I can find. I want to learn more about conformation and think about what draws me to these photos. In general what is good conformation? Which is the fastest, the best for endurance, the best jumper, the best for dressage? And also, how much are body types affected by training (type/or lack of)?
These pictures are from a 2,700 km trek by horses put on by Alexandra Tolstoy…
